Rapper Gucci Mane robbed, kidnapped; rapper Pooh Shiesty among suspects in custody

Atlanta rap superstar Gucci Mane was one of three people kidnapped and robbed at a music studio in Dallas, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.
U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould said at a press conference that eight of the nine suspects were arrested in Dallas, Memphis and Nashville.
Suspects include rappers Pooh Shiesty and Big30.
On January 10, Gucci Mane, real name Radric Davis, along with two others, real name Lontrell Williams Jr. He went to a business meeting at the studio arranged by Pooh Shiesty.
In what was described as a coordinated “armed seizure,” Williams is accused of pulling out an AK-style pistol and forcing one of the victims at gunpoint to sign a recording contract, the U.S. attorney said.
Davis and the other men were robbed of money, Rolex watches and other jewelry.
Pooh Shiesty signed with Gucci Mane’s record label 1017 Records.
Gucci Mane is widely regarded as one of the best. pioneers of trap music Featuring Atlanta rappers TI and Jeezy. He emerged in the mid-2000s with his breakout single “Icy” and has continued to build an extensive catalog through a steady stream of mixtapes and albums.
He also helped launch or develop artists like Young Thug and earned a Grammy nomination for his role in Lizzo’s song “Exactly How I Feel.”
Gucci Mane has remained active with new music and business ventures, including his 2025 album “Episodes” and his 2017 memoir “The Autobiography of Gucci Mane,” which reflects his evolution as a musical artist and personal struggles such as being diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
He has also publicly emphasized sobriety and stability in recent years.
