The NFL has completed its investigation into Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice. In a statement, the league said it was determined that Rice “did not engage in conduct that violated its personal conduct policy.”

The league also investigated allegations made by Rice’s ex-girlfriend, Dacoda Jones, and said the case was closed.

The announcement means the 25-year-old will not face NFL discipline, noting there was “insufficient evidence to support a finding that he violated the personal conduct policy.”

“Mr. Rice wishes to thank the NFL for its thorough investigation and looks forward to the start of the 2026-27 NFL season,” Rice’s attorney, Sean Lindsey, said in a statement.

The Chiefs declined to comment following the league’s decision Friday.

In January, Jones posted photos on social media showing bruises and wounds on her body and allegations of prolonged domestic abuse. The post did not include Rice’s or anyone else’s name. However, Jones said the alleged abuser was the father of her children. Jones and Rice have two children.

In a since-deleted Instagram caption, Jones wrote: “I’m so tired of staying silent. I’m so tired of protecting his image. I’ve been through so much in eight years and ENOUGH!”

He said he and Rice separated in 2025.

Jones filed a lawsuit in Texas in February. The lawsuit alleges that Rice repeatedly assaulted her over a 1.5-year period, starting in 2023. The lawsuit demands damages exceeding $1 million. Jones also brought up the alleged drowning, which he said occurred in December 2023.

“Rice grabbed, strangled, strangled, pushed, threw, scratched, hit and headbutted Ms. Jones, and also struck her with inanimate objects,” the lawsuit states.

Lindsey disputed the allegations in the lawsuit, citing Jones’ affidavit.

“On October 9, 2025, long after the parties’ relationship ended, Ms. Jones said in a declaration of non-prosecution under penalty of perjury, ‘Mr. Rice and I had a verbal altercation, but he did not punch me.’ We will allow the legal process to take its course.”

In March 2024, Rashee Rice drove a Lamborghini Urus at 129 mph on Dallas’ North Central Expressway, triggering a multi-vehicle crash that injured multiple people. Rice’s former teammate at SMU, Theodore Knox, drove a Corvette. Rice, Knox and three others fled on foot without checking on the injured before police arrived, according to authorities.

Less than two weeks later, Rice publicly accepted responsibility for the incident and issued an apology. He later surrendered to the police after an arrest warrant was issued for him. The judge sentenced the Super Bowl winner to 30 days in jail and five years of probation for his role in the incident.

In district court, he pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony counts of a crash involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury. He was granted deferred adjudication, meaning the case will be dismissed if he successfully completes probation.

The NFL issued a six-game suspension last season after finding Rice violated the league’s personal conduct policy in that situation.
