Sarah Ferguson may one day follow in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s footsteps and release a documentary of her own on Netflix. Speaking in an extensive interview Telegram In 2023, the former Duchess was quizzed on whether she had watched Harry and Meghan’s recently released self-titled biopic, and made up her mind.

When asked about his plans for the coming years, he said: “I think I’m an information eater on Netflix. I also love watching everything on Netflix. I also think I want to make a documentary one day.”

When asked if she wanted to follow her niece’s example and opt for a similar explosive or tell-all style of programming, Sarah replied: “I don’t know. I can’t be manipulated.”

Before the scandal surrounding her and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s ill-advised relationship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein came to a head in 2025, Sarah was successfully balancing her career as a best-selling romance novelist with her private charity work.

Before this latest scandal, with books such as Her Heart for a Compass and A Woman of Intrigue topping book charts, it had been reported that the publishing giant was considering adapting his work for the big screen, following the success of other similar period dramas, including Bridgerton.

Storyboards were allegedly prepared, but the project was later deemed “toxic”. A source told the Mirror:: “Sarah being associated with this scandal for the US right now is just toxic news for the project. It will never come to light.”

While Sarah’s own work may not be adapting from page to screen any time soon, a story featuring connections to her will soon air on ITV.

The Lady is a four-part drama that tells the story of Jane Andrews, Sarah Ferguson’s former dresser who was convicted of murdering her lover in 2001. Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer takes on the role of the former Duchess in the upcoming series; Meanwhile, BAFTA winner Mia McKenna-Bruce plays Jane.

Elsewhere in the cast, Outlander’s Ed Speleers will play victim Thomas Cressman; Other notable names such as Philip Glenister, Outnumbered’s Claire Skinner and Laura Aikman of Gavin and Stacey fame will also appear. The Lady tells the rags-to-riches story of Jane Andrews, who fails when she is convicted of murder.

Although the release date has not been confirmed yet, the series is likely to air in early 2026.
