Real reason Prince Harry and Meghan won’t attend Trooping the Colour | Royal | News

The King will be joined by Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and their children, as well as Prince Edward and Princess Anne. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be on stage today for an important reason; they are no longer senior members of the royal staff.

The couple, who currently lives in California, has not attended the event since 2019 as they left their jobs before the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their children were not included on the guest list for this event since they stepped back from royal duties.

In 2020 and 2021, the scale of the ceremony was scaled back without large gatherings due to the pandemic.

Since the King’s first Trooping the Color in 2023, only senior royals have joined the monarch.

The highlight of the day comes when the royal family steps onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace and waves to the audience below.

Meghan joined her husband at the event in 2019, making her first public appearance since welcoming their son.

The former player has not set foot in England since his last visit in 2022.

The Duke of Sussex will return to the UK next month to take part in the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games. It is unknown whether his wife and children will join him.
