Rebel Wilson is asked ‘did you just make that up?’ as she steps into the witness box at Charlotte MacInnes defamation trial

Rebel Wilson has been grilled over a letter her lawyers sent to the co-producers of The Deb, in which some accused Charlotte MacInnes of forcing her to submit to ‘indecent sexual demands’.

Wilson’s relationship with the co-producers soured when she accused husband and wife Amanda Ghost and Gregor Cameron of embezzling $900,000 from The Deb’s budget.

He also accused them of ‘taking coercive and physical control’. [MacInnes] for their vile purposes’.

In court on Tuesday, MacInnes’ barrister Sue Chrysanthou SC asked Wilson about the unproven allegations in the letter.

Wilson acknowledged that his lawyer drafted the letter, but had difficulty accepting that the letter was sent on his behalf.

Finally, Ms. Chrysanthou asked Wilson to confirm whether he had a law degree and whether he had taken an ethics course during that degree.

Wilson acknowledged this and was then asked if he knew it was wrong to make unproven claims.

When asked why he accused Ghost and Cameron of embezzlement, Wilson admitted he didn’t understand the word.

‘Do you know what embezzlement means?’ Miss Chrysanthou was hanged.

Wilson replied: ‘It’s being dangerous with money.’

Ms Chrysanthou said: ‘Is this a serious answer?’

Wilson said that was a serious answer.

Ms Chrysanthou continued: ‘Embezzlement is an English word, do you speak English Ms Wilson?’

Wilson replied: ‘Yes.’

Ms Chrysanthou asked: ‘How do you define embezzlement?’

Wilson said: ‘Being dangerous with money.’

Ms. Chrysanthou asked if he knew that embezzlement was a crime.

Wilson replied: ‘Financial crime can be used in that sense too, I suppose.’

Ms Chrysanthou said: ‘That’s all it amounts to as financial crime.’

Wilson said: ‘I use this to get people to be dangerous with money.’

Miss Chrysanthou asked: ‘Have you ever looked?’

Wilson said; ‘No, I didn’t investigate.’

Ms. Chrysanthou asked why she didn’t investigate before repeatedly accusing Ms. Ghost and Mr. Cameron of stealing $900,000.

Wilson went on to explain that he meant they were being ‘dangerous’ with money.
