The reform does not currently have any councils in the capital, and all of these councils will be elected in May this year.

A large number of councillors, mostly from the Conservative Party, have joined the rebel party in the last few months.

They were joined by London Councilor Keith Prince, who left the Conservative Party last year, during the party’s annual conference.

Although the move was welcomed by Nigel Farage at the time, some activists badmouthed the departing member.

One of them said: “As a Prince he was always used to being second to the King.”

Mr Prince himself said the Conservatives were “done and dusted”.
