Remark on Kantara: Karnataka HC says it will pass appropriate orders accepting Ranveer Singh’s apology

The Karnataka High Court on Saturday (April 25, 2026) said it would accept actor Ranveer Singh’s undertaking to pray at the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru and a written apology for his “reckless” act of “mocking” the holy temple. Daiva Tradition depicted in Kannada film Weighbridge Part-1and would pass appropriate orders disposing of his plea challenging the FIR for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.

Justice M. Nagaprasanna made these observations while hearing the petition filed by Mr. Singh challenging the FIR registered by the High Grounds police in Bengaluru on the directions of a metropolitan magistrate in Bengaluru. The judge had acted on a private complaint filed by Prashanth Metha, a city-based lawyer.
