Removing Article 370 was a true tribute to Sardar Patel: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

On the occasion, the CM inaugurated the ‘Unity Run’ here and presented flowers to Patel’s statue to commemorate the leader’s birth anniversary, also known as ‘National Unity Day’.
“On this National Unity Day, let us pledge to strengthen the unity and integrity of India by rising above caste, language, religion and region,” he said in an official statement.
Touching on Patel’s legacy, the Prime Minister said that the Iron Man of India united 563 princely states under the Republic of India after independence and prevented British conspiracies.
“When the princely states of Hyderabad and Junagadh refused to unite with India, Sardar Patel first adopted the path of dialogue. But when the integrity of the country was threatened, he took difficult decisions to secure the unity of India,” he said.
Adityanath asserted that “the integrity of India will not be compromised”. He added: “By abrogating Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Modi has realized the vision of a united India dreamed of by Sardar Patel. This is a true tribute to him.” He noted that under Modi’s leadership, the country has followed the tradition of honoring great personalities who contributed to the unification of India since 2014. “Today, the ‘Run to Unity’ campaign is being carried out in more than 600 locations across the country in order to instill patriotism and a sense of unity among young people.”
Adityanath said ‘Run for Unity’ events were organized in all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh with the participation of thousands of youth, students, officials and citizens. “It is not just a race but also a symbol of India’s unity, integrity and social harmony,” he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna, State BJP President Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, Mayor Sushma Kharwal, Rajya Sabha MP Brijlal and many MLAs attended the event.
Earlier, in a post published on X, the CM had greeted citizens on National Unity Day by remembering Sardar Patel.
