Renee Nicole Good family hires George Floyd legal team after fatal ICE shooting

The family of Renee Nicole Good, the woman who was fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis last week, is now represented by the firm that represented George Floyd’s family in a new civil investigation announced Wednesday.

Romanucci & Blandin, a Chicago-based law firm, confirmed in a news release that they are representing the family.

The firm’s co-founder, Antonio M. Romanucci, represents Good’s partner, Becca Good, her parents, Tim and Donna Ganger, as well as her siblings, according to the statement.

“People in Minneapolis and across this country truly care about what happened to Renee Good on January 7, 2026, and are committed to understanding how she could have been killed on the street after dropping her child off at school,” Romanucci said in a statement. he said.

The firm represented Floyd’s family after his death in 2020, resulting in a $27 million settlement that became one of the largest pretrial settlements in a civil rights death case in U.S. history, the firm said in a 2021 news release.

The firm also represented the family of Sonya Massey, who was killed by a police officer in her Springfield, Illinois, home in 2024.

The case resulted in a $10 million settlement against the Sangamon County, Illinois, Sheriff’s Department.

“We are committed to providing Good transparency and Good accountability, and we hope that this will ultimately lead to Good policing. We will be that voice,” Romanucci said.

Because the case involves law enforcement, the civil litigation team follows a different process than filing a civil suit, according to the statement.

“[L]Romanucci said legal action against the federal government is even more complicated because it requires victims to navigate the customary, time-consuming processes mandated by the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA).

Romanucci said a case filed in court would be argued before a federal judge rather than a jury.

Good was shot and killed by a federal agent during an ICE enforcement operation in Minneapolis on January 7, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

DHS said agents attempted to make an arrest when Good allegedly tried to use his vehicle as a weapon against officers.

Romanucci and Blandin and DHS did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
