World Athletics Indoor Championships 2026: GB make history with three golds in 28 minutes

Great Britain won three gold medals in a sensational 28 minutes to make history and achieve their team’s best achievement at the World Athletics Indoor Championships.

Georgia Hunter Bell began her medal run on Sunday night when pole vaulter Molly Caudery stormed to her first global 1500m title before returning to the top of the podium in Poland.

A third victory was never in doubt as Olympic champion and world record holder Keely Hodgkinson dominated the women’s 800 meters final to claim her first World Indoor gold.

It followed Josh Kerr’s 3,000m victory on Saturday, which secured the most successful World Indoor Championships of all time, surpassing the British team’s three gold medals won in 1999.

Returning to the championships where he represented Great Britain for the first time just two years ago, Olympic bronze medalist Hunter Bell overtook his opponents in the final round to take down Ethiopian Birke Haylom and take victory in three minutes, 58.53 seconds.

Having already secured silver when his teammate crossed the line, Caudery reclaimed the title, representing his second breakthrough success over 4.85 meters two years ago.
