Reports of victims with gunshot wounds at California mall on Black Friday

At least two victims with gunshot wounds were transported to a local hospital following a shooting at the Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose, Calif., that took place to take advantage of the Black Friday crowd, police said.
“Units are currently investigating a shooting that occurred at Valley Fair Mall in West San Jose,” the San Jose Police Department wrote to X. “Two victims were located and transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds.”
According to police, “the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, NOT an active shooter.”
Officials added that officers were evacuating and clearing the area to ensure there was no ongoing threat to public safety. “Please continue to avoid the area,” San Jose Police added.

Shoppers shared photos and videos on social media of barricading major stores and sharing real-time updates.
“Potential active shooter situation at Valley Fair Mall in the Silicon Valley area, @Abercrombie for a cozy hiding place,” @avgpearfarmer wrote on X, with photos showing Black Friday shoppers hiding behind store windows.
It is unclear if there is a suspect in custody at this time.
