Revanth Emerges Stronger After Bypoll Win

Hyderabad:Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has become stronger after the Congress’ landslide victory in the Jubilee Hills general elections, consolidating his authority within the party and across the state government.
The immediate impact of the win is expected to strengthen his leadership and silence dissenters and the Opposition within the organization who expect to criticize him in the event of a setback, as he prepares the party for the upcoming local elections. Senior leaders, including a minister or two, indirectly raised dissenting murmurs and BRS working president KT Rama Rao even predicted that the Prime Minister would be sacked by his own party men.
Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy told Deccan Chronicle, “This is a slap in the face of KTR. He tried to project that people are angry with our administration, but the voters gave a clear message. Credit is given to the Prime Minister for constantly monitoring the campaign and poll management up to the minute.” “We will continue this momentum and sweep the local opinion polls,” he said.
Moving away from the Congress’s general practice of leaving election campaigns to local leaders, especially when in power, Revanth Reddy took full responsibility for securing the party’s victory. He appointed three ministers (Ponnam Prabhakar, Tummala Nageswara Rao and G Vivek) in charge much in advance and energized the staff. Despite pressure from various quarters, Naveen firmly supported Yadav’s candidacy and laid the groundwork for various groundworks to reinforce the narrative that his win was necessary for their completion.
During the campaign, the Chief Minister covered every division in the Jubilee Hills constituency even as BRS leaders tried to pressure him. It ensured that ministers and elected representatives were on the ground and working on the side streets of the densely populated section throughout the 20-day campaign period.
Revanth Reddy also strengthened the minority vote by gaining the support of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and connecting with minority voters beyond the traditional influence of the Majlis. An important community meeting organized by his confidant Fayeem Qureshi played a key role. Qureshi, who gained credibility in the city after his local election victory, said that the Prime Minister personally addressed the long-standing concerns of the society. “Community leaders have been convinced since the Prime Minister held a direct hearing,” Qureshi said.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, in the post-result press conference, openly acknowledged Qureshi’s efforts to coordinate with his party and the community.
The Prime Minister also surprised many by inducting Md Azharuddin into the Cabinet at a strategic moment as part of his support for minorities.
Another major boost for Revanth Reddy came in the form of public support for HYDRAA, his sensitive initiative aimed at clearing encroachments on water bodies and protecting government lands. “Ironically, it was KTR who tried to turn the bypoll into a referendum on HYDRAA and people rejected his attempt to demonize the agency. They saw the results of our work,” said a senior police official.
Wasting no time after the general election result, the Prime Minister held a comprehensive high-level meeting on Telangana Rising 2047, his flagship vision to transform Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by the time India completes 100 years of independence. Sources said that with the rejuvenation of Musi and the introduction of a new financing model for mega projects such as Future City, the Prime Minister plans to dedicate the coming year to advancing this ambitious agenda while keeping the administration on its toes.
