The high-powered Telangana Rising delegation led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy successfully persuaded key investors attending the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos to invest in the State by explaining the proactive policies and potential benefits put in place by the State government.
Since his arrival in Davos, the Prime Minister attended a series of meetings with renowned companies and told them the vision and roadmap of his government’s effort to make Telangana a US$ 3 trillion economy in two decades. Impressed by the presentation, many companies, including Google, Unilever and others, signed a memorandum of understanding with the State government and made investment commitments.
One of the biggest investment assurances came from renowned ductile iron pipe manufacturer Rashmi Group, which has proposed a steel plant with an investment of ₹ 12,500 crore that could create 12,000 direct and indirect jobs. Another important achievement of the delegation was the establishment of the Global Talent Center (GCC) in the city by L’Oreal, the world leader in beauty, make-up and cosmetics. While it is common for GCC to specialize in medical technology and other fields, L’Oreal came up with the idea of establishing a GCC, the first of its kind, that deals solely with beauty technology.
The Chief Minister had a fruitful interaction with Natarajan Chandrasekaran, chairman of domestic giant Tata Group, and apprised him about the investor and industry-friendly atmosphere in the State and the proactive long-term policies initiated for the all-round development of the State. The Telangana government was not only working to attract investment, but was also taking steps to present a vision for the future of the state.
Tata Group has accordingly shown interest in partnering with the Telangana government in developing world-class sports infrastructure, including modernization of existing stadiums. Mr. Chandrasekaran felt that there was an abundance of talent in the country and basic infrastructure needed to be established to develop these skills.
The Telangana Rising delegation is also scheduled to meet representatives from various industrial groups on Thursday and is making intense efforts for investments, leveraging the power of its vision and road map for development over the next two decades.
