Revenue e-literacy project launched in Chathannur

In a pioneering move towards digital governance, Revenue Minister K. Rajan officially launched the ‘Revenue e-Literacy Mission’ in Chathannur constituency. The project, which is part of the broader ‘Janapaksham Chathannur’ initiative, aims to make Chathannur the first Assembly constituency in the country to achieve full revenue generation from digital literacy.

The project is designed to educate citizens on accessing government services, such as paying land tax or applying for certificates, directly through their mobile phones. The project aims to ensure transparent and fast service delivery while eliminating the need for intermediaries by promoting digital self-confidence.

The project is structured as a major community-focused campaign targeting 65,000 households in the constituency. One person from each household will receive special training in 1,200 centers for a total of 65,000 trainees. This effort is supported by 50 master trainers and 149 ward-level coordinators who will oversee the sessions. To support education, a dedicated YouTube channel and a mobile app have been launched, providing video tutorials and step-by-step guidance on navigating various government portals.

Self-service kiosks

In the first phase of the Janapaksham Chathannur project, all major government offices, including village offices, in the constituency were renovated and modernized. In the next phase of the project, it is aimed to make government services smarter by installing self-service kiosks in all government offices. To assist those less tech-savvy, a volunteer force of 1,000 people will man the help desks at these kiosks, ensuring that the transition to digital governance is inclusive and accessible to all. Kollam collector is the implementing officer of the project. A core committee consisting of MLA, village officials and representatives of local self-government institutions is responsible for overseeing the progress of the project.
