Rhode Island governor says officials working hard to catch Brown shooter | Brown University shooting

Rhode Island’s governor insisted Monday evening that everything was being done by law enforcement to catch the person responsible for Saturday’s mass shooting at Brown University, the state’s capital, that left two people dead and nine others injured, and a massive manhunt is ongoing.

“We want to see the person who pulled the trigger on these young kids be identified, captured and brought to justice,” the state’s governor, Democrat Daniel McKee, said at a news conference early Monday evening.

The clips showed a man in dark clothing walking briskly down a sidewalk not far from the college campus in Providence, Rhode Island’s capital.

“We’re asking for help from the public,” Providence police Chief Oscar Perez said at the news conference.

The FBI announced a reward of $50,000 for information leading to solving the case. The video clips were recorded before the shooting, authorities said.

Police do not have the identity of the person of interest or clear images of the person’s face. New clips and photos released Monday evening showed the person wearing a hat or winter headscarf that went over their ears and covered the lower part of their face.

Rhode Island attorney general Peter Neronha told CNN on Monday afternoon that the man was considered possibly armed and dangerous.
