Rob Reiner’s son Jake remembers his dad fondly as he returns to his podcast… 5 months after his parents were murdered

Jake Reiner fondly remembered his famous parents as he returned to his podcast for the first time since their shock deaths late last year.
Rob and Michelle Reiner were murdered in their Los Angeles home in December; Jake’s younger brother Nick, 32, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
This week, Jake, 35, thanked everyone for their contributions on his baseball-themed podcast, The Incline: Dodgers. support ‘since everything happened’.
“I couldn’t appreciate it more,” Jake said. ‘I felt it was time to get back on the podcast. I’ve been thinking about this for a really long time and [have] I was talking [co-host] Kevin [Klein] ‘I’ve been talking about this for a while.’
Jake revealed that his father, Rob, the famous director of films such as Stand By Me and When Harry Met Sally, is a die-hard Dodgers fan.
‘This is something I’ve always connected with, first and foremost, with my father, and it’s something I’ll continue to connect with him for the rest of my life,’ he said.

This happened five months after his parents were brutally murdered in their home. Jake’s brother Nick was arrested and later charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with their deaths and has since pleaded not guilty
“When it comes to the Dodgers, you know, my first love is something that I’ve always connected with first and foremost with my dad, and that’s something that I’ll continue to connect with for the rest of my life,” Jake previously told People.
In April, Jake described the ‘very incomprehensible’ moment he learned his parents had been murdered.
In a Substack article, he shared his shock at discovering that his brother was accused of carrying out the murders. He also revealed that his sister Romy, 28, informed him of their parents’ deaths.
Jake described taking a taxi home and described the 45-minute journey as he was ‘in a trance’ trying to make sense of what was happening.
‘The only thing I could focus on was that I needed to go to my childhood home. I had to go to my sister. “I had to figure out what just happened,” he wrote.
‘I was deprived of many things that day. My parents won’t be at my wedding, they won’t be able to hold their future grandchildren, and they won’t be able to see that I still have the successful career I’m looking for. It breaks my heart and makes me angry at the same time.’

Jake wrote that the accusation against his brother increased the magnitude of the loss.
He said: ‘We lost more than half our family that night in the most violent way imaginable.
‘Of course, the loss of a parent is devastating, but nothing compares to losing them both at the same time and, on top of that, having your sibling at the center of it. It’s almost impossible to process.’
The months since the murders have been marked by ongoing pain and disbelief, Jake said.
In February, Nick pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his parents
He added: ‘Every day since then has been terrible. ‘Every meeting we have, every person we talk to, every tear we shed, every action we make is linked to the murder of our parents.’
Jake described the ongoing impact on him and Romy and wrote that the reality of the loss remains constant.
He said: ‘As they are not your family it may be easier to move on or even forget for a moment what happened that day. But for us it’s every day.’
In his tribute, Jake said his parents were at the center of his life. She added: ‘They are my guiding lights, the foundation of who I am as a person, and the most giving people I have ever met.’
