Rodri Rages That Officials ‘Don’t Want’ Manchester City To Win

Manchester: Manchester City midfielder Rodri called on referees to “be neutral” in an angry tirade after suffering yet another defeat following a 2-2 Premier League draw with Tottenham.

City were heading for a 2-0 victory in North London on Sunday, but momentum swung in Spurs’ favor after Dominic Solanke’s goal was allowed to stand despite the striker fouling Marc Guehi before coming into contact with the ball.

Solanke then equalized with a stunning scorpion strike, leaving City six points behind leaders Arsenal.

Rodri told Australian broadcaster Stan Sport: “I know we’ve won too much and people don’t want us to win but the referee has to be impartial and to be honest in my opinion that’s not fair.”

“In the end, when it was all over, we were disappointed because the foul was so obvious. He kicked his leg and of course with the push on the ball it went in.”

“We have to pay attention to these little things, otherwise it will be difficult for everyone because this is the league; it is about the little details and everything is important, so I think today is a very difficult day for us in that sense.”

The controversial call was the latest decision that City feel has gone against them in recent weeks.

Pep Guardiola claimed last week that the success of the club’s golden era came “despite” decisions being consistently made against him.

“It’s one game and another game and that’s not possible,” Rodri added.

“He guessed Marc’s foot and it was a clear foul but not today. Two or three games in a row and I honestly don’t know why.”
