Roger Cook dead aged 83: The Cook Report presenter passes away following a short illness after surviving cancer twice

BAFTA award-winning investigative journalist Roger Cook has passed away after a short illness.

The New Zealand-born British star presenter was most famous for exposing criminals, fraudsters and corruption and was a two-time cancer survivor.

He is best known for his stunning television series The Cook Report, which aired on ITV and BBC Radio 4’s Checkpoint.

The statement made by his family on Monday included the following statements: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Roger Cook, who passed away peacefully on Saturday after a short illness.

‘Apart from his distinguished and award-winning career in journalism, Roger was above all else a beloved husband and father.

‘We will all miss him deeply and ask for privacy as we process this difficult loss.’

Journalist Roger Cook died on Saturday, aged 83, after a brief illness.

In a statement, ITV added: ‘In a career spanning an incredible five decades, Roger Cook’s groundbreaking approach to investigative journalism has made him one of broadcasting’s most trusted and respected names.

‘On his eponymous current affairs programme, The Cook Report, Roger worked tirelessly to expose criminal wrongdoing and injustice and helped deliver significant and lasting changes to the law.

‘His fearless contribution to journalism will long be remembered and we send our deepest condolences and condolences to his wife, family and friends at this difficult time.’
