Romford boy, 16, charged with murder of Eghosa Ogbebor, 14, in south London | UK news

A 16-year-old boy from Romford has been charged with the murder of 14-year-old Eghosa Ogbebor, who was shot dead in south-east London last week, the Metropolitan police said.

Another 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday and remains in custody, police said.

The 16-year-old, who was charged on Friday, will appear at Thames magistrates’ court on Saturday, April 11. He was first arrested on April 4, released on bail, and arrested again on Thursday, April 9.

An investigation was launched on April 2 after police were called to Lord Warwick Street in Woolwich at 3.40pm to reports of a shooting. Officers attended the London ambulance service and found Eghosa seriously injured. He died at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police said Eghosa’s family continues to be supported by specialist officers.

The Met said the six people arrested in connection with the victim’s death – boys aged 14, 16 and 16 and men aged 18, 19 and 46 – were released on bail and investigations were ongoing.

The attack took place in a residential street near Woolwich Dockyard railway station. Anyone with information or footage can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
