According to reports, Sarah Ferguson was married to the late Queen Elizabeth II. It was claimed that he turned down a generous gift from Elizabeth because he was “anxious” about it. The former Duchess of York has been banished to the shadows following her fall from grace following the latest bombshells about her relationship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. But this wasn’t the only scandal Fergie was involved in. Ms Ferguson married Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in 1986, but they divorced in 1992 and a year later the late Queen gifted her grandchildren Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie Birchhall, a £1.5 million, seven-bedroom Georgian property in Surrey, amid the “chaos” of the separation.
But Mrs Ferguson turned down the offer, reportedly fearing she would not be able to afford the upkeep of the house, and continued to live at Sunninghill Park with her daughters until 2006. Online Radar: “Sarah quickly realized that accepting a large Georgia property and actually being able to maintain it are two completely different things,” the insider claimed. Behind closed doors, it was said that he was genuinely worried about buying a house that could drain him financially and become a constant source of stress rather than stability.
