As of Monday, July 27, there are delays in areas such as Brecon, Cambridge, Gloucester, Milton Keynes, St Helens and Wolverhampton. Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses where we receive mail six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may be temporarily unavailable due to local issues such as high levels of sickness absence, resourcing or other local factors.
“In these cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimize delay to individual customers. We are also providing targeted support to these offices to overcome any difficulties they face and return our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.” Over the last 24 hours, Royal Mail’s air and road network operated as planned.
Royal Mail explained in a social media post: “We’ve revitalized our Something for You delivery cards with a new look and a smart upgrade. They now come with an easy-to-scan QR code – because even the most attractive handwriting deserves a digital assistant. The new card is simpler, faster and a safer way to keep your missed deliveries under control.”
“This updated version includes a QR code that gives you direct access to the location of your item. Simply scan the QR code on the card using your mobile phone to instantly view your tracking details,” the delivery firm added in a video.
“You’ll see a link that starts with RYML.me. Simply tap the link to open your tracking page. Your unique nine-digit tracking code will already be filled in for you. Simply enter your delivery zip code to confirm access. From here, you’ll be able to see the latest location of your item, including secure location photos or adjacent delivery details.”
“If you prefer, you can manually enter the nine-digit code on the tracking page in the Royal Mail app or on our website. If we have to return your item to your local delivery office, you will be able to see who the items belong to so you can bring the correct ID when collecting.
