RTA Raids Heavy Vehicles In Hyderabad City

Hyderabad: RTA officials along with mining department personnel with the help of Vigilance and Enforcement wing personnel raided heavy vehicles carrying sand, murram and other natural resources without valid permit and imposed a penalty of Rs 7 lakh on each vehicle.
According to officials, they received information that some transporters, especially dump trucks and their owners, were violating rules and regulations while transporting murram, sand and other materials without valid permission from the Mines Department. Tipper owners chose to transport overloaded material, posing a major threat to passers-by.
At Gandimaisamma junction, officials stopped a dump truck carrying overloaded stones and rocks without taking precautions. Authorities stopped the dump truck and took criminal action. Similar raids were carried out at Miyapur, Bahadurpally, Suraram, Jeedimetla, Shahpur and other places in Medchal district on Thursday and Friday.
During the two-day operation, authorities registered two cases against 20 vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act, Mining Act and GST Act and imposed a penalty of Rs 7 lakh. Raids will continue on weekends to prevent the transportation of illegal materials.
