Ian Watkins: Men go on trial for alleged murder of paedophile Lostprophets frontman

Two men accused of murdering pedophile Ian Watkins will appear in court.
Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, are accused of murdering Watkins, 48, at HMP Wakefield on October 11, 2025.
Watkins, the former lead singer of the rock band Lostprophets, was serving a 29-year prison sentence for sexual offenses against children.
He was sentenced to a further six years on licence, in December 2013, after admitting a string of offenses including attempting to rape a fan’s baby.
He was arrested on 21 September 2012 when a number of computers, mobile phones and storage devices were seized following the execution of a drugs search warrant at his home in Pontypridd.

Analysis of the equipment revealed the singer’s immoral behavior.
Watkins was previously hospitalized after being attacked in prison in 2023.
In 2019, he was convicted of possessing a mobile phone in prison and sentenced to an additional 10 months in prison.
The trial is expected to begin at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday.
