Rudy Giuliani Hospitalized In Critical Condition

new York : Rudolph Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and a former adviser to President Donald Trump, is in critical but stable condition in the hospital, his spokesman said Sunday.

Spokesman Ted Goodman did not say why the 81-year-old man was sent to the hospital or how long he had been there.

“Mayor Giuliani is a warrior who faces every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he fights with the same level of strength as we speak,” Goodman said in a statement on social media. He said Giuliani was in critical but stable condition.

Giuliani hosted his online show “America’s Mayor Live” in Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday night.

He coughed as he opened the show, sounding more gruff than usual. He stated: “My voice is a little bad, so I won’t be able to speak as loudly as usual, but I will get closer to the microphone.”

Giuliani was dubbed “America’s mayor” for his leadership in New York after the September 11 attacks in 2001.

He later became Trump’s personal attorney for a time and a vocal defender of Trump’s claims of fraud in the 2020 election won by Democrat Joe Biden. Trump and his supporters have lost dozens of lawsuits alleging fraud, and countless recounts, reviews and audits of the election results have turned up no signs of serious inaccuracies or errors.

“Our amazing Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior and the Best Mayor in the History of New York, has been hospitalized BY FAR and is in critical condition,” Trump wrote on the social media platform on Sunday. “What a tragedy that he was treated so poorly by the Radical Left Crazies and Democrats – AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING! They rigged the elections, made up hundreds of stories, did everything possible to destroy our Nation, and now look at Rudy. So sad!”

Two former Georgia election workers later won a $148 million defamation judgment against Giuliani. While trying to get the verdict, the former federal prosecutor was charged with contempt of court and faces trial this winter over ownership of some of his assets. He eventually struck a deal that allowed him to keep their home and various belongings, including his prized World Series rings, in exchange for unspecified compensation and a promise to stop speaking ill of former election workers.

Giuliani was hospitalized in September after suffering a broken spine and other injuries in a car crash in New Hampshire.

Giuliani was elected mayor of New York in 1993 after serving as one of the nation’s most high-profile prosecutors, battling mobsters and crooked Wall Street traders.

He ran for the US Senate in 2000 but dropped out of the race against Hillary Rodham Clinton after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Giuliani ran for president in 2007. He started with great name recognition and fundraising prowess, but his campaign faltered and he withdrew in January 2008. He tried to run for other offices but eventually became a regular television political commentator.
