Russell Brand ‘humiliated’ as Piers Morgan says nothing for 100s after Bible question | UK | News

The awkward conversation between Russell Brand and Piers Morgan has gone viral after a long silence during a live interview. Brand, 50, appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored to discuss his upcoming trial and promote his new book, How to Become a Christian in 7 Days.

The comedian will stand trial this fall on three counts of rape, three sexual assaults and one count of indecent assault against six women between 1999 and 2009. He denies all accusations. During the interview, Morgan asked Brand to bring a Bible with him to Southwark Crown Court earlier this year.

Brand took the religious text into the courtroom in February and was later seen reading it before it was confiscated by a port official.

Morgan asked if the Bible found in the studio was the same Bible he took to court. After Brand confirmed this, Morgan said: “What were you thinking taking this to court?

“You were seen looking at some passages… what were the relevant passages for you?”

This was followed by a long silence, lasting about 100 seconds, as Brand flipped through the pages of his Bible.

Morgan watched him, occasionally glancing towards the camera. The awkward moment has since sparked outrage online.

One person wrote about X: “The fact that the piers chose not to intervene here is the height of situational awareness.”

Another added: “This literally looked like something you’d watch on an episode of The Office.”

His trial at Southwark Crown Court will begin on October 12.
