Russia in flames as Ukraine drone strikes wreak devastation and chaos | World | News

Ukrainian drones have created chaos and panic across Russia after a series of deadly attacks that caused massive damage to energy infrastructure and military-industrial facilities. The devastating attacks occurred in Dagestan and Mordovia early Wednesday morning.
Ukraine has increased aerial bombardments of Russia in an attempt to disrupt the supply of fuel and ammunition to Putin’s troops. Oil refineries and weapons production facilities were ruthlessly targeted in carefully prepared operations that exposed major weaknesses in Russia’s air defenses. In the latest attack, unmanned aerial vehicles were targeted at the Makhachkala oil refinery in the Republic of Dagestan in Russia’s Caucasus region.
Video footage shared by local people on social media channels reveals the moment of dramatic impact. A drone is seen speeding towards the facility, then crashing into one of the buildings and causing a massive fire.
The Ukrainian military later confirmed the attack in a post on its Telegram Channel, writing: “The Makhachkala oil refinery in the Republic of Dagestan was hit.
“A hit was recorded in one of the processing units on the territory of the enterprise.”
The facility supplies fuel to Russia’s Caspian Sea naval fleet and can process up to one million tonnes of fuel.
Another attack was carried out on the Saransk Mechanical Plant in the Republic of Mordovia. The industrial facility produces anti-personnel engineering ammunition and mine-laying kits, ammunition detonators and firing units.
The Ukrainian military said: “Explosions were recorded on the territory of the enterprise.”
A huge explosion occurred at an ammunition factory in the Chelyabinsk region of Russia on Wednesday evening. The “Plastmass” plant in the town of Kopeysk produces explosives and ammunition for the Russian army.
While four people were reported to have died and many others were injured in the explosion, local residents say many more may still be buried under the rubble.
Regional Governor Alexey Teksler claimed that the explosion was not the result of a drone attack, but residents said an air raid siren sounded before the explosion.
The area around the facility was cordoned off as emergency services responded to the fire and searched for survivors.
