Meanwhile, Fedorov congratulated Drapatyi on his new position, describing his appointment as “a new hope in the struggle of free people for freedom and justice.”

He said it was “the voice of change that cannot be ignored.”

Fedorov also revealed that he called Syrskyi to thank him for the defense of the Kiev region and other “historic battles”.

“But we need to move even faster and write new chapters that correct previous mistakes,” he added.

Fedorov, 35, was only appointed defense minister in January; but has been widely praised for using it to analyze data and try to improve front-line performance.

A former minister of digital transformation, he was active from the early days of the large-scale invasion, forming a volunteer “Ukrainian IT Army” to launch cyber attacks against Russia.

He later led a successful fundraising campaign called Drone Army, incorporating “gamification” elements into warfare, devising a system that gave Ukrainian military units credit for striking Russian assets.

So far, Syrskyi has not commented publicly on the latest developments.

On Monday she wrote a column for the Militarny website about her relationship with Fedorov, saying: “I perceived our relationship as a working one.”

“If I offended anyone, Mykhailo Albertovych [Fedorov]I am sad.”

About the protests held in various cities of Ukraine, the general wrote that the issues of military contracts, supply and mobilization, which are now published in the press and reduced by the protesters to pithy slogans, are much more complicated than most people think.

“Decisions on which people’s lives depend are not made with slogans,” he said. “Real work wins, not the public drama surrounding war,” Syrskyi wrote.
