Russia uses new Oreshnik missile in deadly Ukraine strike killing 4

The Russian Defense Ministry said a new Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile was used in a deadly attack on Ukraine on Friday.
According to Ukrainian officials, four people were killed and at least 22 were injured.
Russia said the attack was Moscow’s retaliation for a Ukrainian drone attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence last month. Both Ukraine and President Donald Trump disputed this claim.
The attack came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned the nation that Russia intended to launch a full-scale attack.

Zelenskyy said Russia aims to take advantage of the cold weather that icy the roads and streets in the capital.
The missile traveled at more than 8,000 miles per hour, according to the Western Command of the Ukrainian Air Force.
Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kiev City Military Administration, said that many areas in Kiev were hit in the attack and that an emergency medical worker was among the dead.

Ukraine’s security service said five rescue workers were injured while responding to ongoing attacks.
A drone crashed on the roof of a multi-storey building in the Desnyanskyi district, and the first two floors of a residential building were also damaged as a result of the attack.
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that flowing water and electricity were interrupted in some parts of the capital.

The latest attack also included other land- and sea-launched missiles targeting Ukraine’s critical infrastructure in the western city of Lviv, according to mayor Andriy Sadoviy.
