Russian army disaster as Ukraine destroys key dam and wipes out 800 troops | World | News

The Ukrainian army has destroyed part of a major Russian dam, dealing a major blow to Putin’s army. Drone attacks damaged the Belgorod Dam, located north of the Ukrainian border, causing a significant amount of water to flow out.

The dam was breached during the night, and by the morning the level of the reservoir had already dropped by one meter. Water from the reservoir flooded Russian positions and cut off troops crossing the Seversky Donets River near the town of Vovchansk in Ukraine’s Kharkiv Oblast. Russian bunkers near the village of Grafovka and further down the river were reported flooded.

Even more worrying for the Russians was the fact that troops of the 128th, 116th, 68th and 136th brigades were cut off on the opposite bank of the river.

Russian troops trapped on the Ukrainian side of the river have been left without safe supply lines or reinforcements and are now subject to a counter-attack by Kiev forces.

“The main thing is that the enemy’s logistics have become significantly more complex,” Ukraine’s 16th Army Corps said on Sunday. he said.

“The leaves also fell. That is, the units that managed to cross the Seversky Donets were effectively cut off from their main forces.”

The flooding of the dam also affected civilian settlements on the Russian side of the border. Local authorities confirmed that ten villages in the Shebekino region were affected and evacuation of local residents was ongoing.

It comes as the Ukrainian military claimed Russian forces lost 800 soldiers on Sunday and air defense units shot down 547 UAVs across the country.

This brings the number of casualties suffered by Putin’s army to a terrifying 1,137,690, according to Ukrainian General Staff data.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops repelled a planned Russian attack in the Donetsk region over the weekend, causing further casualties.

Fighters from the Phoenix unit destroyed 14 Russian heavy armored vehicles, including a tank. They also destroyed nearly 50 Russian soldiers during fierce fighting on Ukraine’s eastern front.

Russian forces continue to advance towards Pokrovsk, Ukraine’s critical city in Donbas, where intense clashes have continued for more than a year.

Latest reports say that around 200 Russian soldiers have entered the front-line city, which is a key logistics and transport hub on the eastern axis of the Kiev army.
