Sabarimala pilgrim killed, three injured in accident

A 51-year-old man was killed and three others injured when a car carrying Sabarimala pilgrims collided head-on with a container truck on the Muvattupuzha-Perumbavoor section of MC Road at Thrikkalathoor in Muvattupuzha on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Cheerela Ashok Kumar, a native of Vanasthalipuram in Telangana. According to police sources, the injured are Mokedu Rajasekhar (41), Cheerela Dheeraj (18) and Pradeep Kumar (31) from Telangana’s Rangareddy district.
The pilgrims met with the accident while returning from darshan at the temple around 5.30 am.
Police sources said that the driver of the vehicle may have caused the accident by falling asleep at the wheel. Police reported that the injured were taken to two hospitals and their condition was stable.
