Sacramento deputy dies in crash while headed to work on Christmas Eve
(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has identified one of its deputies as a man killed in a car crash on Christmas Eve morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, SCSO Deputy James Caravallo was on his way to work at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Facility around 5:56 a.m. when he crashed his Chevrolet southbound on Franklin Boulevard north of Point Pleasant Road.

Police said Caravallo lost control of his vehicle due to the wet road and crashed into a large metal utility pole. Despite the life-saving efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office mourns the loss of Caravallo.
“Deputy Caravallo was a dedicated employee who proudly served our agency for 19 years.” SCSO said on social media:. “Our hearts go out to Deputy Caravallo’s family, and we ask the public to keep Deputy Caravallo’s loved ones and our Sheriff’s Office family in their thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace, Deputy Caravallo. You will not be forgotten.”
The investigation into the accident continues by CHP.
