Sadie Robertson says her baby choked, stopped breathing before CPR saved her

Sadie Robertson describes a terrifying moment when her little girl Kit choked and briefly lost her breath.

On Saturday, the 28-year-old “Duck Dynasty” star described her frightening experience in a post she shared. on Instagram.

“I find it difficult to talk about this issue in my real life, let alone on social media, but I think it’s worth sharing because I truly believe awareness of this will save lives…” Robertson began.

“I am currently walking through waves of anxiety from the trauma of this situation and with immense gratitude for the miracle of Kit’s full recovery and God’s undeniable help through this situation,” she continued. “I have been away from social media and my family and amazing team have been helping me here for a while now as I try to maintain a healthy mind.”

Robertson detailed the ordeal, saying she hopes to raise awareness of the potentially life-threatening emergency other parents may be facing.

“Kit was sitting in his high chair this week, snacking on a snack while I finished dinner prep, when he started choking,” Robertson wrote. “You knew within seconds the seriousness of the situation. As she stopped breathing, my mother pulled her from the high chair and placed my daughter in my arms.”

“Everyone took action and prayed,” he continued. “My mom called 911, I started CPR, and everyone started praying loudly and carrying the other kids downstairs.”

Robertson recalled instinct taking over as she relied on both what she had learned and her faith to rush to help her daughter.

“I’m one of those people who likes to be prepared for any situation, so I watched a few videos while hoping and praying that I would never have to use this knowledge,” Robertson wrote. “I can only explain it as if my body knew what to do. I felt the Spirit of God guiding me, sharing with me in what I was learning and seeing. I asked out loud, ‘What should I do?’ I remember saying. and then I immediately started doing it and declaring life.”

He continued: “After following the protocol for a choking baby and administering CPR, Kit miraculously coughed and began breathing just as the paramedics arrived…it was truly terrifying, but my God.”

“I got into the backseat of the ambulance with my daughter, still scared but thanking God.”

Robertson shares the eight-month-old baby along with Honey, 4, and Haven, 2, with husband Christian Huff, whom she married in 2019.

The social media celebrity recalled that Christian pointed out a hopeful sign he noticed on the way to the hospital and revealed that Kit had made a full recovery after an overnight stay.

“Christian came up behind us and told me there was a rainbow on the ambulance all the way,” he wrote. “We spent the night for observation, but after just a few hours he wowed the nurses and is now completely healthy, happy and brightening everyone’s day!”

He continued, “I’m sharing this as a testimony but also as an encouragement for everyone to learn what to do in an emergency. It all happened SO fast and I’m so grateful I was able to take direct action!”

“We know that God has our children in His hands; we cannot control our children’s breathing, or even our own breathing. We cannot live in a state of fear…we must trust God in everything. And spiritual and physical preparation and knowledge can be a gift you can give to yourself and your family! Please join us in thanking God for this miracle!” Robertson concluded his words.

In her post, Robertson shared a video of Kit sleeping on his chest as they lay together on the porch swing. “Miracle,” the “Live Original” author wrote over the video, along with a dove emoji.

Robertson and Huff are currently starring in the second season of “Duck Dynasty” remake “Duck Dynasty: The Revival,” which premiered March 7. The series follows the entire Robertson family as they navigate the next chapter of their lives, including Robertson’s pregnancy from Kit.

In an interview with Fox News Digital last month, Robertson and Huff admitted that adding a third child “extended” their marriage. Robertson shared that welcoming Kit forced her to give up the “brave face” she used to wear.

The reality star, who started appearing on “Duck Dynasty” when she was 14, said growing up with “cameras everywhere” made it easier to perform.

“You can just open it,” he said. “You know, you can act like everything’s fine. If someone says hello, you just say, ‘I’m fine.’ And you can actually put a smile on your face and look like a nice person. But once you have three kids, it’s like, I can’t fake that.”

“I come in and I spit all over myself and the kids go crazy. And it’s like, oh, here we are in this whole mess,” he added. “Being able to let people see that and still be loved and in a relationship without having to look flashy or well-groomed, I think that was such a sweet thing we learned this year. But it took our pride a few swallows to put it out there.”
