A man in California was arrested this week in connection with the murder of his mother, authorities said.
Angela Caprioli, 61, was found dead in a Laguna Beach home on Monday, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department. The New York Post identified Caprioli and the suspect, Safford Wolfson, as mother and son.
Wolfson, 36, was arrested on suspicion of murder Thursday after investigators previously identified him as a person of interest in the case.

Police said officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of Dunning Drive shortly after 11 a.m. for a death investigation and found Caprioli dead.
The circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated.
Neighbor Dustin Pettit said he witnessed Wolfson and Caprioli engaging in what appeared to be a heated argument at the home in the days before the alleged murder.

“I saw him outside talking to her and it seemed like a pretty hostile conversation,” Pettit told The California Post.
“He turned around, walked in and slammed the door as if he was fed up with what was going on.”
Pettit also told CBS Los Angeles that Wolfson moved into the house about six months ago.
“He was quite mysterious. He wouldn’t talk to us, you know he would go out and smoke and play the guitar,” she said. “That’s the extent of our relationship with him over the last six months.”

Social media accounts linked to Wolfson identify the account owner as transgender, according to the New York Post.
The publication also reported that Wolfson wrote on Facebook in 2024: “Even my mom doesn’t want to hang out with me man…talk about bullshit!”
