Sai Pallavi Faces Trolling Over Hindi, Filmmaker Bats for Her Talent

Sai Pallavi found herself at the center of online criticism following a recent promotional event for Ek Din. The actress was trolled on social media for not being able to speak Hindi fluently, with some users questioning whether she was ready for big Hindi projects. In fact, in one episode, while discussing her language skills, her much talked about role as Sita in Ramayana was also mentioned.
Interestingly, Sai Pallavi had revealed that she was not ready to speak Hindi at the event, but this did little to protect her from online criticism.
Coming to his defense, director Hemanth Madhukar pointed out that judging an actor solely on his language fluency misses his core strength. He emphasized that Sai Pallavi has consistently proven her acting talent across many industries and like any new skill, it takes time to master the language.
The debate also raises a familiar debate in Hindi cinema: language and performance. Over the years, many actors have successfully worked in different industries without full command of the local language. “Many Bollywood actors, for example, have acted in Telugu films without being fluent, but have connected with audiences through their performances. Acting is ultimately about expression rather than linguistic perfection,” points out Hemanth. .
Earlier, Ek Din, which marked Sai Pallavi’s Hindi debut opposite Junaid Khan, had also received its share of scrutiny. The first look poster of the film sparked criticism online, with some netizens claiming similarities with the poster of the Thai movie One Day. Social media discussions, particularly on platforms such as Reddit, questioned the lack of originality; users claimed that the design and even the title were directly inspired by it.
“Despite the noise, Sai Pallavi’s track record as one of Hindi cinema’s most compelling actors remains intact,” says Hemanth Madhukar, adding, “The actress will most likely let her work speak louder than the criticism and focus on the performance rather than the distractions around her.”
