Sajjanar Forms SIT to Probe Crimes Linked to Nepali Gangs

Hyderabad: City police commissioner VC Sajjanar on Thursday constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate alleged crimes involving Nepali gangs and persons of Nepali origin operating in the city.
The team has been formed under the IT Cell and will function under the supervision of inspector Daniel Shanti Kumar. The development comes in the wake of the recent murder of a retired IPS officer’s wife in Jubilee Hills and other incidents allegedly involving such gangs.
It consists of 20 personnel, including sub-inspectors, chief constables and constables from SIT, CCS, Task Force, cyber crime wing, IT Cell and multiple police stations. The team includes both field and technical personnel to strengthen intelligence gathering and operational response.
The SIT is mandated to track down escaped accused allegedly involved in property crimes, enforce pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs) and identify organized crime networks linked to such offences. According to the orders, the SIT will focus on coordinated investigations and faster arrest of accused persons involved in organized property crimes allegedly committed by Nepali gangs, especially those operating in Hyderabad.
