Sajjanar Urges Motorists to Update Contact Details on Vahan Portal

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has issued an important advisory urging all drivers in the city to update their contact details on the Vahan portal.
This measure aims to ensure that vehicle owners receive timely information about traffic e-challans and other critical updates directly on their personal devices. The Police Commissioner stated that the department utilizes SMS, WhatsApp and email services to facilitate smooth and speedy delivery of traffic violation emails and advance notifications.
To benefit from this system, vehicle owners need to immediately register or update their existing mobile number and email ID on the official Vahan portal of the Central government.
Sajjanar explained that in many cases, drivers miss traffic violation alerts due to outdated mobile numbers or incorrect information registered in the system. This lack of communication often leads to delayed payments, resulting in hefty fines piling up.
By keeping their contact information up to date, vehicle owners can receive information in real time and avoid the burden of unexpected fines.
How to Update Details?
Drivers can easily and quickly update their information by visiting the official portal at vahan.parivahan.gov.in or by scanning the official QR code issued by the Police Department.
Legally ‘Deemed Delivered’
Drawing attention to a vital legal regulation, Sajjanar stated that as per government rules, any e-challa sent to the mobile number or email ID registered on the Vahan portal will be ‘deemed to be presented’ officially to the vehicle owner.
Therefore, claims regarding non-receipt of notification cannot be legally defended. The Chief Constable therefore advised all vehicle owners not to be negligent and update their information on the portal today. He also appealed to the public to strictly follow traffic rules and act as responsible citizens.
