Trump’s India envoy Sergio Gor meets NSA Ajit Doval: ‘Remain committed to…’

Sergio Gor, US ambassador-designate to India, met National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Saturday. Gor said the US and India are committed to developing a free Indo-Pacific region. The US embassy in India said in a post on online platform X: “It is a pleasure to spend time with National Security Advisor Doval today. The United States and India are committed to working together to advance a free and open Indo-Pacific.”
Gor said that the United States values its relations with India and is optimistic about relations between the two countries. Gor added that US President Donald Trump values his personal friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The US values its relationship with India, and under the strong leadership of President Donald J Trump and Prime Minister Modi, I am optimistic about the days ahead for both our nations. President Trump considers Prime Minister Modi a great and personal friend. They actually had an incredible phone call right before he left for New Delhi. And this is something that will continue for the weeks and months to come,” he said.
Gor also said that he held talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister Vikram Misri and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, and also held discussions on various issues, including critical minerals. “We hit the ground running. We had a series of great meetings with External Affairs Minister Misri, External Affairs Minister Dr. Jaishankar and National Security Adviser Doval. We just finished an incredible meeting with Prime Minister Modi where we discussed bilateral issues including defence, trade and technology. We also discussed the importance of critical minerals and its importance to both our nations,” he said.
Gor added that he looks forward to deepening relations between the two countries. “Once again, it is an honor to serve as President Donald Trump’s ambassador to India, and I look forward to continuing this very important relationship and seeing the relationship between our two nations grow and deepen,” he said. Earlier in the day, the US embassy in India officially welcomed ambassador-designate Sergio Gor, who is set to strengthen ties between the US and India.
