Salman Agha set to lose pakistan captaincy

Karachi: While Salman Ali Agha will be stripped of the captaincy of the Pakistan team regardless of the outcome of their campaign in the ongoing T20 World Cup, some other senior players may also have played their last tournament with the national team.

According to a reliable source from Pakistan Cricket Board, chairman Mohsin Naqvi is “unhappy” with the way the team’s campaign is going in this mega event.

“Naqvi is not happy at all because this time he has been assured by the selectors, the team management and his close aides in the board that the team will do well in the World Cup,” the source said on Saturday. he said.

He said that Naqvi has decided to remove Salman as the T20 captain and will also have a frank meeting with head coach Mike Hesson and selectors regarding the future of some players.

“Salman, Babar Azam, Usman Khan and a few others are likely to see curtains in their T20 international careers after the World Cup,” the source said.

Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi are being considered to replace Salman as captain.
He also recounted that even before the World Cup, Hesson had told Naqvi that Pakistan should bring in and install some young players and fulfill the requirements of today’s T20 cricket. “So, you can expect major changes in the Pakistan T20 structure after the World Cup,” the source said.

Babar, one of the 145 international T20 players, has probably played his last T20 match unless he does something dramatic against Sri Lanka and is then in the knockouts should Pakistan qualify.
