Samson Powers Chennai Super Kings To 8-Wicket Win Over DC

New Delhi: Sanju Samson led the chase with authority, hitting a modest target of 156 runs with a fluent 87 as Chennai Super Kings edged Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in the IPL on Tuesday.

Samson’s knock, which included seven fours and a six, came in just 52 balls and ended the innings as CSK completed the chase in just 17.3 overs, giving them a massive increase in their net run rate.

Choosing to bat on a difficult surface, Delhi Capitals were restricted to 155/7.

West Indies left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein set the tone with the new ball, posting tidy figures of 1/19, including 14 dot balls.

Having fallen to 69/5 in 11 overs, Delhi got a late boost thanks to Tristan Stubbs (38; 31 not out) and Sameer Rizvi (40 not out; 24 balls) who put together a crucial 65-run stand (47 not out) to post a respectable total in the innings.

Quick Points:

Delhi Capitals: 155 for 7 in 20 overs (Tristan Stubbs 38, Sameer Rizvi 40 not out; Noor Ahmed 2/22)
