San Diego teenager left unconscious after violent attack on beach

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSİ) — A local mother is speaking out after her 16-year-old daughter was attacked, pistol-whipped and left unconscious at the beach near Belmont Park.

“He’s afraid something else will happen to him,” said the teenager’s mother, Nallely Rodriguez.

San Diego Police said that around 1 a.m. Saturday, Rodriguez’s daughter was attacked by a group of 15 people. Rodriguez said the group consisted mostly of men who beat her daughter outside the restroom at the beach near the parking lot.

She was verbally and then physically attacked while leaving the toilet with her daughter, cousin and two friends.

“They were just beating him, he fell to the ground, everyone started beating him,” said Rodriguez. “One of the men had a gun and shot him in the face and head.”

San Diego Police say the 16-year-old was punched, kicked and shot, and shots were fired nearby. Police said the woman was taken to the hospital with multiple bruises and a laceration to the back of her head.

In the graphic video, he is seen being kicked as he lies motionless on the ground by a group of what appear to be teenagers.

“Someone starts pouring a bottle of liquor on his face while he’s unconscious,” Rodriguez added. “They grabbed him and dragged him to the beach to leave him to die.”

Her daughter, who was taken to the hospital by her friends, is currently receiving treatment at home due to her bruises and injuries.

San Diego Police said the 911 calls came in at 1:04 a.m. and officers arrived less than 10 minutes later.

“How can you beat someone who is already unconscious, how does that make you more of a man? I don’t understand that.”

No arrests have yet been made in this incident and no suspects have been identified. Police are still investigating what happened and are appealing for anyone with more information to come forward.
