Santana frontman Alex Ligertwood died in Los Angeles on Friday, Fox News Digital confirmed. He was 79 years old.

The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately disclosed.

Ligertwood served as the band’s lead vocalist during five different periods from 1979 to 1994.
