‘Sarke Chunar’ song banned: Ashwini Vaishnaw confirms action after SP MP raises ‘KD The Devil’ track row in Lok Sabha

Anand Bhadoria raised the issue during Question Hour and said that unchecked content on OTT platforms and social media creates a bad impact.
In her response, Union information and broadcasting minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the song had already been banned.
Vaishnaw said, “There has been a ban on the song. The framers of the Constitution have put some reasonable restrictions and we must act within these limits. Freedom of expression cannot be absolute, it must be in the context of society and culture.” he said.
“Nowadays, things are spreading rapidly in the digital environment. Whatever drastic measures are needed to protect society, especially children, women and poor groups in society, the government is ready to take them.”
The song, featuring Dutt and Nora Fatehi, was released on YouTube two days ago and quickly went viral for its shock value and lyrics depicting an almost sexual act. It has since become the focus of outrage on social media and elsewhere.
