Lehrmann claims cops destroyed evidence of innocence

Former liberal staff Bruce Lehrmann claimed that the police had destroyed evidence to prove their innocence and therefore the waiting case should be abandoned.

Lehrmann’s lawyer Zali Burrows said the Brisbane Regional Court on Thursday could not access a hard driver of Queensland police containing comprehensive case files.

Ms. Burrows’ claims will be tested at a hearing on September 26, and Judge Deborah Richards ordered that Lehrmann would not have a potential hearing on two rape until at least 2026.

He appeared on the phone to talk about his 30 -year -old case.

Judge Benedict Power previously led the defense and prosecutors to agreement on a nominal start date for the hearing.

However, on Thursday, Ms. Burrows said it would be early for many reasons.

“There is a permanent process of permanent process on the basis of the destruction of the excavation material,” he said.

“The officer responsible for this investigation lost materials stored on a personal hard disk containing materials during the investigation.”

Mrs. Burrows, the hard drive witnesses and Lehrmann, expresses and video recordings containing the chewing of voice recordings, he said.

“(Officer) claims that the hard drive has failed for unknown reasons,” he said.

“Defense asked our experts access to the hard drive for an independent inquiry, but we were told that the hard driver was destroyed.”

Lehrmann, who received bail, is accused of raping a woman twice on the morning of October 10, 2021.

The night before they met at a strip club in Toowoomba, West of Brisbane.

Liberal senator Linda Reynolds’ former minister employee was accused in January 2023 and has not yet officially defense.

However, his former lawyer said that he had previously aimed to object to the accusations to a magistrate Lehrmann.

The royal prosecutor Peter Blake-Segovia did not respond to Ms. Burrows’ allegations that the civil servant’s hard driver or police have provided copies of evidence of evidence in a “piece” way.

Judge Richards said this year’s calendar was not a place for another hearing.

“There is no calendar for the next year yet. At this stage, you go out of the hook for the trial date,” he said.

Lawyer Michael Bonasia, representing the Queensland Police Commissioner, told Judge Richards to his client by Mrs. Burrows for copies of all the materials in the case.

“There is an application for any claims of privilege for the documents sought under the subpoena,” he said.

Judge Richards ordered a hearing to remain permanently on the court allegations and Mrs. Burrows on 26 August on 28 August, which would stop the hearing before it started.

The judge said, “On October 29… (a date) will still be listed as a pedestrian for the hearing”.

Lehrmann’s shroud continued.
