SC To Hear Rani Kapur Plea in RK Family Trust Dispute

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear Rani Kapur’s application for a restraining order over a dispute regarding RK Family Trust on May 14.

The bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and Ujjal Bhuyan agreed to the listing after raising the issue while orally observing: “It seems we have entered an arena in which the Mahabharata will appear very small.”

The application seeks directions to restrain Priya Kapur and others from interfering with the functioning of the foundation and related companies during ongoing mediation proceedings.

Rani Kapur alleged that attempts were being made to gain control over companies and assets linked to the family estate, raising concerns about possible transfer or alienation of assets during the mediation period.

Earlier, on May 7, the apex court had appointed former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud as mediator in resolving the dispute between the parties.

The court directed both parties to participate in mediation with an open mind, advised them not to make public statements or use social media, and noted that an early decision would be in the interest of all parties.

The provisional application will be taken into consideration while the mediation process continues.
