King Charles sends Republic Day greetings to India, praises deepening UK ties | World News

King of England III. In a letter to President Droupadi Murmu, Charles conveyed his and Queen Camilla’s warm greetings to the government and people of India on the occasion of the country’s 77th Republic Day, while praising the enduring and close ties between the two countries.
In his letter to President Murmu, the King praised the enduring partnership between India and the United Kingdom, saying it was based on the shared values and mutual respect that define the Commonwealth. He also expressed pride in the role Commonwealth member nations play in promoting understanding, cooperation and opportunity around the world.
The letter detailed: “The Commonwealth’s rich diversity and the energy of its young generations continue to inspire hope and progress. In these times of global uncertainty, our collective strength and unity are more vital than ever. I am delighted that our nations will come together at the next Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda in November, where we will reaffirm our shared commitments and set out a collective vision for the future.”

“I also look forward to this year’s Commonwealth Games in the Summer and congratulate you on securing the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad,” he added.
King Charles welcomed the deepening of the India-UK partnership on climate and sustainability through clean energy initiatives, cooperation on climate finance and clean technology and green growth initiatives.
He praised India’s international climate leadership through initiatives such as the Disaster Resilient Infrastructure Coalition.
“India is a strong global voice for this important cause, and our collaboration underscores our shared commitment to shaping a prosperous, secure and sustainable world. My wife and I join together to offer our best wishes to you and all the people of India for a peaceful and prosperous year ahead,” the letter said.
India is celebrating its 77th Republic Day to commemorate the formal adoption and implementation of the Constitution in 1950, symbolizing the country’s transition to a sovereign democratic republic. This event reaffirms the fundamental principles of justice, equality, freedom and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution.
