Schools Against Long SSC Exam Schedule

Hyderabad: School managements have asked the school education department to reconsider the SSC General Exam schedule, saying that the month-long schedule may strain students and make schools deal with difficult conditions during the busy summer season. Telangana Reputed School Management Association (TRSMA) said the new scheme deviates from the shorter model followed earlier and has raised concerns in unaided private schools.

“The proposed schedule is longer compared to the previous system where exams were conducted in a shorter and more manageable time frame,” the letter said.

TRSMA said students will face long gaps between assignments, which can increase pressure due to the extended exam cycle. The association added that many schools will struggle to manage staff and logistics for around four weeks, disrupting their normal operations.

Another point raised in the letter was the timing of SA-2 exams for Classes up to IX. These tests will start from April 10 and SSC exams will be scheduled from April 10 to 16. TRSMA said this overlap would create confusion for schools and students. Schools designated as SSC centers would have to hold classes for younger students in the afternoons during the hottest part of the season, which could be difficult to manage, they said.

The association also said that students preparing for competitive exams will lose significant study time due to long syllabus.
