Seahawks beat 49ers 41-6, advance to NFC Championship game

The Seattle Seahawks booked their ticket to the NFC Championship game by defeating the league rival San Francisco 49ers 41-6 in Saturday’s bracket play-off match.
Seahawks’ quarterback Sam Darnold took the field with doubts that he could play due to his injury. Seattle’s running game handled most of the offense as Darnold threw for 124 yards and a touchdown in the concern for his first career playoff victory.
Running back Kenneth Walker III had 116 rushing yards with three touchdowns.

San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy had 140 passing yards with no touchdowns and one interception as he was never able to get the 49ers offense into the end zone, managing only two field goal drives.
Seattle will now wait for the winner of Sunday’s other NFC divisional round game between the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams to see who their opponent will be.

Seattle hasn’t been back to the NFC Championship since 2014, when it tried to defend its Super Bowl title, beating Aaron Rodgers at home at the Green Bay Packers, but then fell short to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Darnold will look to put the exclamation point on a dramatic resurgence after a slow start to his professional career with the New York Jets. Darnold also found some redemption in the big game after last year’s late-season faltering with the Minnesota Vikings.
