The drama series Perfect Family, starring Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa, Gulshan Devaiah, Girija Oak, Kaveri Seth, Neha Dhupia, Hirva Trivedi and Ronav Vaswani, is receiving rave reviews from the audience and critics. Created by Palak Bhambri, directed by Sachin Pathak and produced by Pankaj Tripathi and JAR Pictures, the show started streaming on YouTube from 27 November.
In her recent interview, Gulshan opened up about filming an intimate scene with Girija in Perfect Family. Giriji became the latest actress to be dubbed the “national love” after her reels and pictures in a blue sari went viral on social media. Speaking to IANS, the Hunterrr actor said: “It’s always very difficult to do such scenes because there’s a line we can’t cross. It’s very difficult to simulate intimacy or violence because there’s always a line beyond which you can’t go, but you still have to create the illusion that it’s real. So, you have to find ways to do it responsibly.”
Gülşen also shared how intimacy coordinators are now hired for such scenes. “Sometimes we have intimacy coordinators, like with Ulajh; we had a coordinator from the UK who walked us through the process step by step and made sure everyone was comfortable. Then three-quarters of those scenes were cut from the film is a different matter! Not much was left in the final version, but that happens sometimes. Over time, I became more experienced with these types of scenes. When we were shooting Hate Story in 2012, there were no intimacy coordinators or anyone to help us with these things. We had to figure it all out on our own, a lot.” “I was working with Paoli Dam, who was supportive and made me feel comfortable,” he added.
Before Perfect Family, Gulshan Devaiah was last seen in Kantara Part 1, which was a pan-India blockbuster. He played the evil king Kulashekara in the epic mythological action drama film directed by Rishab Shetty. With global gross collections in excess of Rs 800 million, Kantara Part 1 remains (as of now) the highest-grossing Indian film of the year.
