Secret Service officer arrested for indecent exposure after Trump event

A U.S. Secret Service officer was arrested in Miami on charges of indecent exposure while off duty, authorities said Monday.
Officer John Spillman was previously working on exterior security screening for President Donald Trump’s appearance at the PGA Tour Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral on Sunday.
Online jail records showed Spillman was being held Monday in Miami-Dade County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.
The 33-year-old has been placed on administrative leave from the Secret Service, the agency said.

The incident involving Spillman occurred Sunday night at the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport and Convention Center, according to WSVN-7 News Miami, which cited an arrest report filed by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Earlier in the day, Trump watched players complete the final round of the Cadillac Championship from a tent near the golf club’s 18th hole.
Spillman was part of a team that provided external security screening for the event.
Hotel guests told investigators they were in the lobby around midnight when Spillman followed them, according to WSVN-7 News. They later reported seeing “the defendant masturbating near the hotel room,” the station reported.
Security personnel later found “the defendant with his pants down and masturbating on the sixth floor,” the report said.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.
U.S. Secret Service Marshal Richard Macauley said in a statement sent to CNBC that the agency was aware of the arrest of an off-duty Secret Service officer by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
“The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity I expect from our staff,” Macauley said.
“This agency treats these matters with the utmost seriousness; as a result, the individual has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this criminal case and a full and thorough internal investigation,” he said.
Spillman’s arrest comes more than a week after Secret Service officers arrested a California man, Cole Tomas Allen, who allegedly shot a police officer as he forced his way through a checkpoint at the Washington Hilton Hotel, upstairs from where Trump was attending the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
The officer was not seriously injured because his protective vest stopped the gunfire, authorities said. Allen is accused of trying to assassinate Trump.
