Security Guard Gets 25 years RI in POCSO Case in Secunderabad

Hyderabad: A local court in Nampally sentenced a 44-year-old security guard to 25 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for sexually harassing a minor girl in Secunderabad.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the accused Arjun Kumar Jha alias Arjun Pandey, a Bihar native and security guard of a commercial complex in Secunderabad.
The complainant said that she, along with her husband, resided in the complex where Arjun worked as a security guard. The complainant said that on October 26, 2024, the accused forcibly took her minor daughter to the fourth floor of the commercial complex, assaulted and raped her.
Hearing the girl’s screams, the family and other citizens of the site came to the scene, rescued the victim and detained the suspect. During the investigation, the police collected the necessary scientific, medical and documentary evidence, and after hearing the witnesses, a criminal complaint was filed in the relevant court.
After detailed trial, XII Additional Court Judge T. Anitha convicted the accused under relevant provisions of BNS, POCSO Act and SC, ST Act and sentenced him to 25 years RI. The court announced compensation of Rs.2 lakh to the victim.
Northern Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Rashmi Perumal said the conviction reflects the Hyderabad police’s prompt investigation, effective prosecution and commitment to provide justice to victims of sexual crimes, especially minors.
